Who's In Charge Here, Anyway

"Whatever happens, conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm" (Phil1:27).

How many folks are out there with the mindset that says that no matter what the problem, this is happening to me and there's nothing I can do about it. Are we so much at the mercy of circumstance that we become incapable of keeping our responsibilities? If this is the case, a person bears no responsibility for them self, their character, or their habits. Mark Twain recognized this futility in his comments about smoking. He said: "Giving up smoking is easy.... I've done it hundreds of times." I will make an addendum to my title.... "Who's in charge here, anyway.... me, or my circumstances?" In literally all aspects of our life, lack of commitment will hurt us. In the area of spiritual growth for personal improvement, watered down tries instead of commitment lead to failure. In marriages, failure to keep our promises and vows will inevitably lead to failure. I believe that what it finally boils down to is whether we are willing to put enough trust in the Lord to obey Him! When Jesus was at Passover Feast, doing many miracles, He looked at the multitudes and John wrote this: "But Jesus would not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all men. He did not need man's testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man" (Jn.3:24-25). Some bridges need to be burned behind us when we take Jesus into our lives. We must be of the belief that our greatest achievements are still ahead. Again, the words of Jesus: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me" (J.14:1).Remember that results achieved are usually in direct proportion to effort expended... More tomorrow...

Have a great day... Good people make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
