Special People - Responsible People

"Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your call and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Pet.1:10-11).

Because we were called out of the world and into the lovely light of Jesus, responsibilities fall upon us. I don't know about you, but I would not want it any other way. Having a feeling of responsibility adds credence to our belief. It puts teeth into the message that we convey to others in our words and actions. Today's verse is an especially telling one. On the surface it looks rather harmless, but as we look deeper, we get to see what our responsibility is. We are to make our election sure... It does us absolutely no good if we allow our dedication to Lord wane and grow weak. The Lord does not want wishy/washy Christians. He wants those that will stand up for their belief and not be afraid to witness to others. We have the wonderful example from Old Testament of Israel, God's chosen people. As they became hardened and lost faith, their special nature changed. We do not want that to happen to us, so we must take on the awesome responsibility of making our election sure.... Every day! We need to be better today than we were yesterday, and better tomorrow than we are today. The writer of the Book of Hebrews puts it this way: "See to it brother, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may become hardened by sin's deceitfulness" (3:12-13). Most of all, we want to one day enter into that heavenly rest that has been prepared for us. It only happens when we take on the responsibility of God's Special People... Do you still feel Special? More tomorrow....

Have a great 4th... Let His light shine through you.... Love mark Phil.4:11
