The Sanctification Process

"For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren" (Heb.2:11).

After our conversion, we are supposed to continue our growth in the faith, and according to today's verse, we are actually being sanctified. The apostle Paul prayed for the members of the church at Thessalonica this way: "May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thess.5:23). We are admonished to actually pursue sanctification and Paul made it a command. "Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of the reverence for God" (2 Cor.7:1). For the very reason that God is holy, we are to conduct ourselves in a holy manner. Our responsibility as saints constrains us to live as pure a life as is possible before God. It is something that ought to become a second nature to us. So.... God has called us to be sanctified.... He has called us to be His special people, set apart and holy. When we obeyed the gospel into baptism, we became sanctified... We became saints for the Lord. It is something that we all need to take with the utmost responsibility, because we have made a promise to the Lord. We must, therefore, pursue this consecration with an undying zeal and desire. I am awed by the magnitude of our responsibility to live up to the standards that Jesus has set for us. I am also in wonder of something else that is extremely important. When we took Jesus into our lives, He did not sit us alone on an island and say; "OK..... You're on your own now.... You have to work this thing out all by yourself!" We are all works in progress, and the Lord has given us the best of help possible to carry out our mission of sanctification. That help is the Holy Spirit... This will be the subject of tomorrow's devotional.... Stay tuned.....

Have a wonderful day.... Bathe in His light, and reflect it to others... Love mark Phil.4:11
