Being The MVP - A Great Honor

"Instead. whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your servant ---- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve...." (Matt.20:27-28).

I believe it is within all of us to be really good at something.... Lets extend that out a bit.... To be really great at something! Maybe some of us are good at many things, but how many are we actually great at? Look at those people who have reached the top the heap in their particular field... You know.... The award winners... MVPs..... Emmys and Oscars.... Pulitzers or Nobels.... These are the pinnacles of performance in different arenas of performance... Would all of you agree that Jesus was great? He actually explains His greatness in the brief words of today's verses. It was known to the prophet Isaiah some 700 years before Jesus' birth that the Messiah would be this servant.... "See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted" (52:13). In the next chapter Jesus is denoted as the suffering servant.... Our Lord and Master exemplified the servitude that He expected out of His disciples. It would be good for us to read and meditate upon Jn.13:12-17. Here, after washing their feet, Jesus clearly and concisely explained what being a servant was all about. With all of this being said, we can assume the great honor of being the MVP... The MVP of service.... I am sure that God was very proud of His Son's life of service on the earth. Likewise, I am also sure that Jesus was proud of His disciples in their work of service after He went back to the Father. Does Jesus look at us in this way? Is a significant part of our Christian life a fruitful and acceptable servanthood? More about what a life of servitude should be all about next time....

Have a wonderful day.... Christians ought to make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
