More Together

"Honor all people, love the brotherhood" (1 Pet.2:17)

My sister is 7 years older than I am and my 2 deceased brothers were 16 and 17 at the time of my birth. Do you think I might have been a mistake? I never had siblings near my age to grow up with, and I envy my wife Jane who has 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters. I have always enjoyed observing the sibling dynamics. I guess that is why I enjoy the brotherhood paradigm that is found in the church. Jesus spoke very clearly about the relationship between brethren... "For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother" (Mk.3:35). A good Christian must have a family consciousness about other Christians. The apostle Paul's writings are also quite clear about this family dynamic when he speaks of the church as Christ's "body." This actually makes Christians a part of one another. Though each part of the body is independent within itself, the body members are functionally interdependent. Even though each member may not have the same function, if the body is to grow spiritually each part must make their contribution. Have you heard of vestigial parts of an organism? Those are parts that have no real function. Within the Christian body, there are no vestigial parts... No useless parts... No decorative parts... We are together in our quest for spiritual maturity, and each part is to aid each other part..... We are to be as my title suggests, "more together."

Have a wonderful day... Let His light shine through you.... Love mark Phil.4:11
