Some Involvements

"Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another" (Heb.10:25).

Have you ever been to a professional sports contest? Maybe you've been to an NFL, NHL, NBA, or Major League Baseball Game. There all all kinds of spectators in attendance. There are the experts and the first timers. There are the laid back fans and those who are vociferous. There are those who get up often for refreshments, and those who stay in their seats. Finally there are those who leave early, especially if their team isn't fairing well, and those who stay until the end. Through it all, the players continue to play right until the end of the game.... Sometimes church services are like this... There are those who assume the role of spectators rather than players. Our assemblies provide opportunities for varied involvement. From cleaning the building to preparing the Lord's Supper to actual participation in the services, there are opportunities. Actual attendance at the assembly is critical to the overall growth and health of the congregation. Worship is not a spectator activity! The question should not be; "How did the preacher do?" The question should be; "How did I do?" Assembling together is so much more than a routine activity to be performed. It is a God-given gift and provision designed for our spiritual enrichment and growth. God has something to give to us in our assemblies. Our involvement or non-involvement will reveal whether we have the desire to accept what God has to offer. When we trivialize this important aspect of our Christian life, it can not only jeopardize us, but negatively impact others. "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it" (Col.4:17). In all my years in sports, I found this one immutable truth. Its a lot more fun to play than to watch....

Have a wonderful day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
