He Came From God

"For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world" (Jn.6:33).

Jesus had just done a couple of His spectacular miracles just before what we read in today's verse. Early in chapter six He fed some five thousand people, having started with five small loaves of bread and two fishes. That evening as the disciples were rowing their boat in a storm, Jesus appeared to them, walking on the water. When they got to the other side of the lake Jesus taught them about the bread of life... He explained that the manna did not come from Moses, but from God,and within the context of these verses, the bread that came down from heaven is intoned six times. (Vs. 38, 41, 50-51, 58) Do you think that is important? Like the woman at the well misunderstanding what the living water was, Jesus does not want His disciples and us to misconstrue the meaning of bread of life... He wants to make it crystal clear that he is divinity, having come down from heaven. Our minds tend to run along materialistic lines, and when that which is material, (water and bread) can be connected to that which is divine, (Jesus) the point is made with clarity. Being the bread of life appropriates Jesus as the sustenance of real life. He even makes the point about their forefathers eating manna in the wilderness and dying... "But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die." (V 50). We serve a Mighty God who has blessed us with a Mighty Son. "Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me" (V 57). Lets make absolutely no mistake about it.... Jesus was sent to us by God as the bread of life... If we want to live forever, we must feed upon that bread... God's bread....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
