Basic Needs 101

"God did this so than man would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your poets have said, 'We are his offspring'" Acts 17:27-28)

As King Solomon searched for meaning in life, as many of us do, he penned the Book of Ecclesiastes. In it, meaning is searched for in a myriad of ways. Most of these ways are attached to the physical nature of life. Since Solomon was very rich, he had many of these physical things at his disposal. "I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men! I have seen all things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind" (Eccl.1:13-14). Solomon left one important thing out in this part of his search. It is the 101 of today's title. Literally every civilization known to man has made some kind of search for God. While those concepts of what God is may differ, men are unified in their need to know him. In today's verses, the apostle Paul is in Athens, one of the centers of learning of the day. The city was full of idols, even one TO AN UNKNOWN GOD... Because of these idols he called them a religious people, and in today's verses explained man's relationship to Him. Those who deny the need for this relationship, go through life without ever finding full satisfaction. It is only when we come into a relationship and fellowship with God that life can be complete. Solomon may have had his flaws, but he was on target with all things that are done under the sun... After going into the wilderness and fasting for forty days and nights, Jesus was tempted by Satan. Satan challenged Jesus to turn the stones into bread, to which Jesus gave a foundational principle of life... "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matt.4:4). Jesus provides our basic needs with these words.... "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (Jn.4:4). Basic needs 101... We need God...

Have a great day.... Let his light shine through you.... Love mark Phil.4:11
