Jesus Desires Of Us

"Therefore go make disciples of all nations" (Matt.28:19).

Is there something that Jesus desires out of us today? Is there something he wants us to do today and everyday? Since he is not physically here, we must use his words that are recorded for us to make that determination. Today's verse give us one powerful clue, and it is clothed in discipleship. His words recorded in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark have a statement at the end that we refer to as The Great Commission... He wanted his disciples to go out and make more disciples. He wanted them to go and convince people to have a powerful desire to learn and desire to be like their teacher. We are the ones that Jesus wants to be his disciples and learn from him. He said exactly that in the eleventh chapter of Matthew... "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (11:28-30). What Jesus desires from us is to become his disciples and to learn from him. Though we may be under the great burden of sin, he offers a respite... He offers us rest... The freedom from sin, both physical and emotional will be lifted from us and our load will be lightened. After a hard day of work, there is nothing like a period of rest to rejuvenate us and allow us to have a renewed energy. As his disciples, Jesus makes that offer to us. It is what he desires of us... More of his desires for us tomorrow....

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
