Grace Growth

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Pet.3:18).

Last night our family went up on the boardwalk in Ocean City and into one of the amusement parks. Three of us decided that we wanted to go on two of the rides that offered the most excitement. About half way through the first ride, both Amy (my daughter) and I decided that we had experienced enough of this particular ride, and anticipated it's end. With some things in life just an experience or so is enough. When it comes to God's grace, just an experience or two is not. In today's verse, Peter encourages us to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." We simply cannot grow in something if we only have a fleeting experience with it. God has so much more that he wants to share with us, and the apostle Paul explains it. "in order that in the coming ages he might show us the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus" (Eph.2:7). There is little wonder that Paul starts his first letter to the church at Thessalonica with a hope for grace, and ends it the same way... Check it out... Two of the ways we can grow into God's grace are shown to us... "Now I commit you to God and to the word of grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among those who are sanctified" (Acts 20:32). We can grow in grace through a heeding of His Word.... "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (Heb.4:16). We can also grow in grace through a rich and powerful prayer life, approaching his throne of grace often. We might enjoy the thrill of a roller coaster ride, but we don't want our experience with God to be an bumpy up and down experience. We want to continually "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
