The Earth Is The Lords

"The Earth is the Lord's, and everything in it" (Psa.24:1).

In just a few minutes our family is headed to the beach in Brigantine to watch the sun rise over the ocean. It is a traditional thing that Jane, her sisters and I to do at least once every time they visit with us. It is now almost two hours later and we have returned from the beach. There was a low cloud cover, and even though the sun came up, we did not get to see it. The walk on the beach was exhilarating, however, and wetting our feet in the water and watching the myriad of birds was worth the trip. In the bustle of life, it is good to take time to reflect of those things that we often take for granted. I believe that the Psalmist was right on with today's statement.... The KJV says; "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness therof." This morning we hoped for: "He is like the light of the morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning" (2 Sam.23:4). Though we did not see the sun come up over the horizon, I was not disappointed because I felt the presence of God on His earth. When we view the wonder of God's creation, we ought to remember the words of Job.... "He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; He suspends the earth over nothing. He wraps up the waters in the clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it. He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness" (26:7-10). It is just good for us to take a step back and appreciate the beauty of the world we live in. The hymnist and poet Folliot S. Pierpoint wrote the words that became a song in our hymn books.... "For the beauty of the earth, For the beauty of the skies, For the love which from our birth over and around us lies.... For the beauty of each hour, Of the day and of the night. Hill and vale, and tree, and flower, Sun and moon and stars of light... Lord of all, to thee we raise this our sacrifice of praise...." (For The Beauty Of The Earth)... Try to escape sometime today into a moment of quiet meditation and reflect on the beauty of the Lord's creation. It will be like an invigorating breath of fresh air in our lungs.. I would loved to have seen that sun peek up out over the ocean this morning, but in reality, I was not disappointed... "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it....."

Have a wonderful day... Do good and give God the glory.... Love mark Phil.4:11
