Stability Keys

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" (Prov.1:7) "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Prov.9:10)

Yesterday we established that the Lord is the stability of our times. (Isa.33:6). Today's verses from the Book of Proverbs lets us know just where the knowledge and wisdom starts... By the way, these two verses are not the only ones that tell us that a fear or deep reverence of the Lord is the wellspring of wisdom and knowledge. The big question to be answered is that of why the fear of the Lord is necessary. The Book of Proverbs starts it out for us... "By loving kindness and truth iniquity is atoned for, by the fear of the Lord one keeps away from evil" (16:6). In this deep reverence for God and His righteousness, we have a powerful and effective motivation. We channel this motivation into a departure from evil, and in this departure we turn to Him... The Book of Proverbs has more... "In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have refuge" (14:26). In turning to God, this deep reverence becomes a fountain of great blessings... A refuge.... There is nothing like confidence to get us moving in the right direction and keeping us there. There is nothing like the promise from one who always keep His promises. The promise of great blessings... The very next verse clinches it for me... "The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one might avoid the snares of death" These promises are: wisdom.... knowledge.... salvation.... confidence.... refuge.... I stand in awe of these gifts that the Lord is willing to bestow upon. me. That we can say with an unwavering faith that the fear of the Lord is the fountain of life... The writer of the Book of Hebrews says this as a logical end to this devotional: "I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you." "So that we might confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?'" (13:5-6)....

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
