Please And Thank You

"Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him" (2 Cor.5:9).

My dentist is also my friend. She has this wonderful endearing quality that I find quite unique. Whenever she asks for something in the office, it is preceded by the words, "please and thank you..." Part of it may be about politeness, but I like to think that she is being a pleasing person. In today's verse, the apostle Paul is talking about being pleasing to Him.. When we look to the next verse, we find that is so much more than just being polite. "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad" (V 10). In the face of what is going on one's life, Paul reminds us that the faithful are anticipating eternal life with Jesus. He certainly leaves out any speculation about raptures, 1,000 years reigns on earth, or dates and times. To him, teaching about the end-times serves as an encouragement and stimulation to live faithful lives...The reality that humans are moving toward an end ordained by God ought to be a cause for godly living. This means that God's earth is not moving toward a weird conclusion that includes some cosmic accident. We are not hopelessly adrift on some unknown sea... Life has purpose to it, and the world is inexorably headed toward a Judgement Day. A day in which we will be judged according to what we have done in this body, so that we may receive one not made with hands... The wonderful hope of life with Him and the fear of facing Him without Jesus as our advocate should be powerful incentives to be well pleasing to Him... We should set the standard of Christian living so that others might see the hope that lies within us, and would be persuaded to have that same hope... The hope that involves seeking His glory... And I just wanted to add.... Please and thank you...

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
