The Reason To Give

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Gal.6:9).

The apostle Paul wants to make this one thing about giving crystal clear... God blesses those who give freely.... If just the giving were what it is all about, we could stop here and be finished, but there is so much more. It is not just the giving that Paul commends, but the attitude. It is that wonderful and beautiful giving that is done from the heart. The giving that God wants is completely free from any grudging complaint. There should be no need for needling or badgering people about it. As natural a part of one's Christian worship and praise is, so should be one's desire to give because it is a part of that worship and praise. Paul and others have let us know, that when a person gives, it is like a farmer who sows. Under ordinary circumstances, there is a correlation between the amount sown and the amount reaped. God just loves that one who will turn loose the seed with a confidence that the sunshine and rain will produce a harvest. The generous soul is one who looks around and sees needs. He or she offers gifts to God that spring from their love for God, and believe that they will be blessed by these deeds. Now... Paul stops short of saying that there is a direct monetary payoff for each dollar that one gives.... A person doesn't give with the expectation that if the gift is doubled, that the check that is in the mail back to us will be doubled also. A true Christian gives when he is moved by compassion, confronted with needs and loving the Lord. Giving for the sake of an immediate payoff, is not the Christian way. According to His Will, God may or may not provide the generous soul with good health or material prosperity. Those certain joys of generosity are wrapped in the package thanksgiving and joy that only comes when one gives because he knows that this is what the Lord wants... A church can best help those who are in need when it has the resources to do so. Those resources come from those that are generous in the Lord.... That should be us...

Have a wonderful day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
