"Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe in the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing." (Jn.14:11-12). (my underlining)

Have you ever had a favorite authority figure (other than parents) in your life? Perhaps it was a teacher, a coach, or even a Sunday school teacher. I am talking about someone who really had a positive influence on your life. When we have those people, who we might call mentors, we want to do anything possible to satisfy them without even being asked. Volunteering to carry equipment, clean a chalkboard or just listen quietly and attentively. In each of these instances, we felt a special bond to this person of authority. We could have been like all the others kids, but we chose to show devotion and respect. I believe that is quite normal to have this special bond to our mentors, and a similar bond ought to be that of our relationship to God. There are so many people in the world who do not have much interest in God, so there is obviously not that special bond. They are not at all attentive to His teachings and have no desire to implement His way of life into theirs. In the 14th chapter of the Gospel of John, Jesus says that to love His Father means to keep His commandments. If imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery. then obeying Jesus as our pattern of conduct is how God wants us to act. As a father, it gives me pride to look at my grown children and see their successes in life. It makes me feel that as a parent, I may have had a part in their happy lives.. Just like a proud father, do you think that God looks down on His children who are living holy and spiritual lives? Is that us? Does He look at us and say; "Those are my kids... They listened and obeyed Jesus, and look at how well they turned out..." Just as we have achieved success in life with the help of good mentors along the way, our greatest achievements lie in the spiritual and godly lives we live. Thanks be to God and His Son....

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and meditate upon all we have to be thankful for... Love mark Phil.4:11
