The Mirror Doesn't Lie

"But prove yourselves to be doers of the word and not merely hearers who delude themselves" (Jas.1:22).

Before we walk out of our homes, many of us probably take that last look into the mirror. Maybe we check out to see if our hair looks OK and if we didn't spill any of that coffee on our cloths. Sometimes we get sloppy with our tooth brushing, so we want to make sure about that residual toothpaste on the corners of our mouth. Since the mirror doesn't lie, we want to leave our home looking as neat and clean as possible. Wouldn't it be cool if we could look into a spiritual mirror before presenting ourselves to the world? Instead of checking out our hair, clothes, or faces, we could get a look at out minds and attitudes. We could walk out of the door with the surety that everything about us was in line with God's thinking before we left. That way, we would have no doubt that our spiritual selves would do nothing during the day that would run contrary to God's will. The rest of the first chapter of James tells us about that mirror and you have probably read it many times. If one would ask most Christians if they are dedicated to God, we would expect most of them to answer in the affirmative, wouldn't we? The mirror doesn't lie.... If we use the mirror of God's Word to form the basis for our behavior, just how will we behave? As Christians, I find it interesting to reflect on the idea that we ourselves become the mirrors as we step out of our homes. How we conduct ourselves reflects whether or not we have decided to make living godly lives our priority. If in some way we fall short in the behavior department, it ought to be a wake-up call for us. Today's verse says that having God as our top priority is much more that just lip-service. It requires a commitment to Him and His teachings. Then comes the mirror... The mirror doesn't lie...

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
