Our Promise

"Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you" (2 Chron.15:2).

When I was younger and crueler, I remember jokes that people would tell about others that were designed to put them down. One particular one comes to mind and it went something like this "When you were a kid, you were so unpopular that your mom ties a pork-chop bone around your neck so that the dogs would play with you...." Pretty bad, huh... As trite as it might sound, the Lord only wants us as His people if we are willing to meet certain stipulations. The Lord is seeking only those who will give themselves totally to Him... "For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that he may strongly support those whose heart is completely His" (2 Chron.16:9). The Lord makes the promise that he'll be with us if we seek Him.. Serving Him at our discretion is not tolerated. "You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jer.29:13). Jesus let us know in a completely candid manner that we need to seek, ask, and knock... Nothing less... As we seek Him, it is all about doing so with a powerful desire to learn His will for us and do it. For those of you old enough to to remember buying 45 rpm records to hear our favorite songs, The record had 2 sides, the hit song, and the flip-side, which was often a song of a much lesser quality. There is a flip-side to our search..."But if you forsake Him, He will forsake you." The prophet Isaiah wrote these words... "But transgressors and sinners will be crushed together, and those who forsake the Lord will come to an end" (1:28). The Lord promised this to Israel, and Jesus says the same thing to those "that do not bear fruit." (Jn.15:1-2). Going through life without God at our side is like those cruel jokes we used to tell.. He has made us a promise, lets be the willing recipient, and not the joke...

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
