Unwrapping The Gift

"What child is this. who laid to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Haste, haste to bring Him laud, the Babe, the Son of Mary.

What Child Is This by William C. Dix 1865

There are some things that happen around us at the Christmas season. It is celebrated with: lights, a lot of food being consumed, families being together, gifts given and received. It has as one of it's central characters a pregnant, unmarried teenage girl. She has been chosen by God to give birth to Jesus, in the same manner that we are chosen... God chooses people through unmerited favor, grace, and mercy. The girl has conceived the child through the miracle of the Holy Spirit. When we accept Jesus into our lives, that same Holy Spirit dwells within us as a wonderful gift from God, just as it dwelt within Mary. "And they shall call His name 'Immanuel,' which translated means 'God with us'" (Matt.1:23). We look at the season with a special kind of joy, but in our lives there are certainly times of difficulty. When things may seem dark around us, in Jesus there is always the spark of light that changes everything. It is that glimmer of hope that is just what we need. In this season, we ought to pray for the joy, hope, and peace that comes through having the Spirit dwelling inside of us. That same Holy Spirit that bought Jesus to us. As we look around us this Christmas season lets extend the mercy God has given us to others. As we give our gifts, remember the One who gave the greatest gift; Himself... The cost for Him was his very life, but He offers it freely to each of us as a gift... A gift we must simply unwrap....

May the Joy of Jesus be with us all this season... Love mark Phil.4:11
