The Contentment Of Riches

"And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Phil.4:19).

Does the contentment that the apostle Paul speaks of in verse eleven have anything to do with today's verse? Is it about riches? The riches he writes about are "riches in glory...." Paul says that God will supply us with those riches. I think it is clear that in order to obtain these riches, that one must be in Christ. It is within this realm that God makes us the promise of great riches. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ..... In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation----having also believed you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory...." (Eph.1:3, 13-14). These teachings reinforce those things that Jesus taught about the necessities of life in Matthew 6. He talked of not being anxious about what we wore or ate and finished with some His most famous words.... "But seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (V 33). As we read the whole context of the 4th chapter of Philippians, we can certainly see why Paul was able to find contentment under all circumstances... With that in mind, how can we not be content? We have a plethora of spiritual blessings, and an assurance that our physical needs will be met... What more could we possibly need to find Paul's contentment. We should chastise ourselves when we take these great riches lightly and begin to feel discontented with what we have... After all, the contentment we have is the contentment of riches...

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
