Closer Through The Word

"By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit..." (Eph.3:4-5).

Yesterday we found that we can get closer to God through His divine creation. But this revelation has its limitations, for though we can see His power, glory, knowledge, and divinity, something very important is missing. We are unable, even through God's creation, to learn about what His purpose and will is for us... Today's verses tell us of the spiritual revelation that the apostle Paul, other apostles and prophets were given in revealing God's will for us through the Word... God saw fit to reveal many things through His Spirit, and these things were in turn written for our benefit and understanding. One of the ways that David got closer to the Lord and His will was though the word... "If Your law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me" (Psa.119:92-93). If we fast forward to Jesus, we find Him using the Word to know what His divine role was. When He was "led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil," He used God's Word to resist the 3 temptations that Satan made... First: "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." Second: "On the other hand, it is written, You shall not put the Lord your God to the test." Third: "Go, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only." (Matt.4:4, 7, 10). To draw closer to God, we must allow His Word to be one of the important conduits. It is a clear path for us to draw near to Him for the peace and strength that all of us need in our lives. Nature can get us closer to His power and divinity, but His Word can provide the path for us to follow..."Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psa.119:105). Lets all draw closer to God by listening to Him through His Word...

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
