Closer Through Prayer On The Two-Way Street

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God" (Phil.4:6).

We can draw closer to the Lord through reflecting upon His creation and reading and meditating on His Word. Those are the soup and appetizers, as we move on the the main course... To clinch the deal, we have to do our part in revealing ourselves to Him, which we can do through prayer. Today's verse gets us off to a good start, letting us know about our expressions of concern that we are to share with Him. There is a verse that follows this one that ties in with it perfectly in completing the prayer cycle... "And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus" (V 7). God promises us the appropriate blessings that are ours if we keep open the two-way street of communication. It is the means by which we are able to approach Him with a great confidence. "Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Heb.4:16). Mercy and grace are two of God's greatest gifts, but we must apply for them and work for them as we maintain the relationship. When King David needed help from God, he approached him through prayer, especially for forgiveness... "I acknowledged my sin to you, and my iniquity I did not hide; .... You forgave the guilt of my sin..... Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found" (Psa.32: 5-6). When in the Garden of Gethsemane, (Matt.26:36-44) Jesus went to His Father in prayer so that He could get the source of strength He needed to face His greatest trial... Lets make sure that we don't short-change God in our relationship with Him. Though he knows all of our needs, He still wants us to express them to Him in prayer. This is the two-way street on which we receive the "peace of God that surpasses all comprehension that will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus..."

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
