How To Get Stronger

"My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me" (Psa.63:8).

More than likely, a lot of New Year's resolutions that people made dealt in the physical. I am sure that the fitness centers had a few more people in them that wanted to get more fit and make themselves stronger. I hope that many of those resolutions dealt with making one's inside stronger... Much to our advantage, many times that David experienced problems, he wrote Psalms. Today's verse from the 63rd Psalm was written while he was in the wilderness of Judah being threatened by his enemies. It would be good for us to read and meditate upon this Psalm and get the confession of longing for God and the security of His presence in our lives... I'll give you a couple of Psalms that David wrote in times when he needed to be strengthened so that they might help us with our strength problems. David wrote the 3rd Psalm when he was fleeing from his son Absalom. It is in the form of a prayer. While in prison in Gath, he wrote the 56th Psalm in a supplication for deliverance. We learn in it that David would put his complete trust in the Lord to help him... While being pursued by King Saul, he wrote Psalm 59 in which he again looks to God for deliverance. Lastly we come to Psalm 63, which I asked you to read... He was lonely out there in the wilderness so to overcome this loneliness he sought the Lord. (Vs 1-2) In verses 3-5 he praises the Lord and prays. In the next two verses, he meditates upon God, remembering how many times the Lord has come to his rescue... In each of these Psalms, David basically says the same things... Put your trust in the Lord if you need to gain strength... Stay close to Him in praise and prayer... If we do these things, we will be able to look at today's verse and know where the real source of our strength is... "My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me." Next week I will write about how we can use these principles to deal with our own problems today....

Have a great day... Do good... Give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
