A Power Surge

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and the power of His great might" (Eph.6:10).

Ancient civilizations made lasting impressions on the world because of the might or power they could produce to keep others in subjection. When the power waned, the civilization weakened and was often overcome by a stronger group. We are promised a power from God when we become one of His followers, and He keeps that promise. The power is given, reinforced, and maintained through His giving us the Holy Spirit. "Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a pledge" (2 Cor.5:5). Like any real and true power, it emanates from within... "So that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man" (Eph.3:16). Why the inner man? "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, be rooted and grounded in love...." (V 17). This power cannot be measured in horsepower or by some meter, but it is a power beyond our comprehension... "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us" (V 20). We are told that this great power that dwells within us can produce amazing things like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control... "against such things there is no law." Today's verse is followed by a short section that we like to call "the armor of God." It might be good for us to read and meditate upon it today... The help that we get in the form of power from the Lord is given to allow us to live and flourish in an ungodly society. It is available to help us to resist the temptations that always seem to be before us. We are able to stand strong because we are fully armed... Armed with: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God and prayer... (Eph.6:13-18). Lets not ever feel weak because there is a great power available to us. Tap into it and share it with others... "finally, be strong in the Lord and the power of His great might...."

Have a wonderful day.. Make you little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
