God's Provisions

"It came about in due time, after Hannah had conceived, that she gave birth to a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, 'Because I have asked him of the Lord'" (1 Sam.1:20).

Though she had gone through hardships, Hannah had remained faithful in her devotion to the Lord. She had continued in fervent and persistent prayer. Her faithful belief was that God would answer them and so we come to that answer in today's verse, which culminates with the birth of Samuel. God remembered her and gave her a son... If there a lesson to be learned from the faithfulness of Hannah, it is that God may often give us what we want. "This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us" (1 Jn.5:14). The first thing that is important for us to learn is that our requests must be in accordance with His will. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you" (Jn.15:7). Secondly, we must have an abiding love for his words.. "You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures" (Jas.4:3). Thirdly, there's that motive thing.. When requests are made with only self in mind, they may not be answered as we wish them to be.. The important thing to consider here in that God truly knows our needs, and is willing to provide as we listen to Jesus' words of Matt.6:33 about "seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness...." The apostle Paul frames it this way; "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those that love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" (Rom.8:28). In Hannah's case, she received that one thing that she asked for. It appears that she passed all of the prayer tests. Lets add here that with all the praying that Hannah did, there was a vow made. We'll look at the vow tomorrow...

Have a great day... Do good... Give Him the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
