We Will Share If....

"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have....." (1 Pet.3:15).

If someone asks me a question about baseball, I'm just about always ready with an answer, or at least a comment. Can you think of a subject that comes up in conversation that you are quick to comment about? Because we have read about certain things that we are interested in, we become quasi-experts in those areas and are willing to discuss them. The apostle Peter tells us in today's scripture about an area in which all of us as Christians need to be well-versed... Our reaction to it ought to be clear and simple. I am well-versed in baseball because of my interest in it, my experiences, and my reading. Am I as prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks about the hope that I have? This is an important question, and I've already given a clue to the answer. If I am interested in it enough.... If my experiences in it are extensive.... If I read enough about it.... If these things are true, I should be willing to share the hope that lies within me. The apostle Paul felt so strongly about it, that he wrote this: "Pray for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it as fearlessly as I should" (Eph.6:19-20).

We ought to pray that the Lord opens opportunities for us to witness for Him. I believe that He gives those chances to people who are prepared and praying for it. We must pray for wisdom, that we make make the best of our opportunities to say the right thing at the right time. Finally, we should pray for confidence, so that we will have the courage to speak when given the chance... To say what people need to hear rather than what they may want to hear... Lets remember where this series of lessons started in the Book of 2 Kings and the four lepers... "We are not doing right. This is the day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now therefore, come, let us go and tell..." (2 Ki.7:9)

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
