To You, From Me

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be open" (Matt.7.7-8).

Today's passage is a familiar one, but I'm going to take a bit of a different approach with it. I would like you to think of some of the gifts you have received in your life for a moment. Now, think of one that was really cool, and one that was something that you didn't like at all. Remembering that they were both gifts, what was the difference between the two? No matter how good or bad the gifts were, they likely were not harmful to you. The people who care about you try to give you things that you will enjoy or are beneficial to you, and even though the gift may be off the mark, the right motive was probably there. Gift-giving is often tied to the relationship that we have with someone. If you know someone really well, the gift you give them is personal and holds some significance. If we hardly know the person, money or a gift card might be the norm. I guess I'm trying to say this.... Bad gifts are "bad" because they don't fit the person who receives them. God Never misses with His gifts... He actually knows what we need better than we do ourselves, and in the context of today's verses, we have some light shed on God's provisions for His children. The scripture doesn't imply that there ought to be millions of Christian lottery winners every week because they prayed for the winning numbers. (Jas.4:3) The true answer lies within the framework of God's giving His people what they need. We need the true bread that came down out of heaven in the form of Jesus Christ. We need to develop a real and lasting relationship with Him, our Savior.. Only this relationship can give us what we really need. The next time we receive a gift, pause to think of the motive that brought it to you. Then think of God, the giver of all the gifts we need... Think of Jesus, the best gift ever given... Life will be a lot more fun....

Have a great day.... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
