The Enormous Gift

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you" (Isa.59:2).

If our Bibles tell us that we are to be joyful people as Christians, then why aren't many of us rejoicing more? Yesterday I related our Christian joy as a response to a gift given to us by God. The gift is an enormous one, but still many are not joyful.I think it may be liked to denial... Denial of the magnitude of sin. The world view of sin is is this; "its not really so bad." or... "Its just a little violation that can be easily rectified by being sorry..." Sin is so terrible that God had to send His only Son to us to die for it. Now we come to the real reason that people aren't happier. They somehow miss out on the enormity of the gift. Jesus is by far the greatest gift given anyone! "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old one has gone, the new one has come! All this is from God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them" (2 Cor.5:17-19). Jesus is our great and enormous gift, and in Him all things are made anew... We would certainly be more joyful if we took the time to understand, contemplate, and meditate on a few things. Things about Him like what He taught and what His apostles wrote. There are so many material things in the world that give us a temporary sense of joy, and I'm not suggesting that we should not be thankful for them. If we are not as joyful over our spiritual gifts as we should be, we must retool. We need to retrain our thinking through His Word. If joy is proportional to a gift, we have received the biggest of the big... One more reason why we might not be as joyful as we should be tomorrow...

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
