The Cleaning Process

"I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit" (Jn.3:5).

To avoid hypocrisy, we need to clean ourselves both on the inside and the outside. When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus in today's verse, He explained how to begin the process. A new birth is necessary, which was somewhat of a mystery back then. Jesus was, and still is at the core of it all. In a his letter to Titus, the apostle Paul renewed the words of Jesus... "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit" (3:5). We also cannot minimize the importance of God's Word in the process... "He chose to give us birth through the Word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all He created" (Jas.1:18). The Word which actually causes rebirth is broadly proclaimed in the gospel. "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God" (1 Pet.1:23). This is the good news that Jesus wanted us all to hear as he ascended into heaven proclaiming the "Great Commission" to all of us... "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved...." (Mk.16:15). When we read through the Book of Acts, we find that faith, confession, repentance, and baptism are the essentials. They are the necessities we must have to get to the process of cleaning the inner man... Cleaning the inside, so that we will act accordingly in our service to the Lord... As the commercial might say, however.... "That's not all!" Tomorrow we will take a closer look at how the cleansing process continues... Stay tuned...

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
