The Highway Home

"A highway shall be there, a road, and it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in the Way" (Isa.35:8).

There is always a special feeling about coming home. There's just something about it that stirs one's soul, and if you have a memory about a special time you or a loved one came home, I'm sure it will come to mind now. The prophet Isaiah was a contemporary of Amos, Micah, and Hosea and started his prophesying about 740 BC. He prophesied about the coming of the Babylonian captivity, and wrote with zeal and poetic words.. It might be interesting to make a point about the verse I used today. In ancient times, certain roads between temples were only to be traveled by those who were ceremonially clean. The Prophet Isaiah was a living participant in the tragedies and fears that came with exile, and with the dejection and malaise that accompanied it. He was also privy to the joy and triumph that came with the return home. The journey would be traveled upon the Highway of Holiness...There were very few authors who told a story with the beauty and verve of Isaiah. He was speaking a message to people who were two centuries from being born.. Jerusalem, and an entire nation would feel the judgement of the Lord. Isaiah was writing to us also. He writes to us about the wonderful aspect of being home. We can consider home in several ways. It can be the actual Christian home that we have carved out by following the Lord's ways. I may be the church, which Jesus purchased with His life to be a sanctuary for the living and a hope for the lost. It may be our final home when this life on earth is done, where we will be with the Lord and those we love forever. Isaiah's message to us is that God is still the judge and redeemer today, just as he was back then...He is willing to chasten us and then restore us. And for us, He has also provided a Highway of Holiness. Those that are redeemed in Jesus Christ get to walk the Highway, and on it they find gladness and joy, with sorrow and sadness fleeing away... Its the Highway to Home....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
