The Antidote

"Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long" (Psa.119:97). "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night" (Psa.1:2).

One of the Philadelphia Phillies players recently contracted MRSA. MRSA is a highly contagious staph infection (staphylococcus aureus). Without going into detail, the bad thing about it is its resistance to many antibiotics. For the last two days, I have written concerning the problem of people's lack of knowledge caused by not reading and meditating on God's Word. Let me give this sickness a name of my own... "Godsword studius--lackus..." Unalike the MRSA, there are some clear cut ways to combat it... The best and foremost way to fight this disease is through a strict regimen of daily devotional Bible study. Best done in private, a systematic practice of daily Bible study will bring a person closer to God as they gradually increase their understanding of His Word. Strength, comfort, and hope accompany this process... Once this antibiotic starts to take effect, a round of frequent Bible study with others is suggested. There is great value in mutual edification that can never be under estimated. In group Bible studies, there are chances for questions, answers, and an exchange of ideas where one can benefit from the knowledge of others who are on the same path... There should be an urgency on the part of churches and individuals to eradicate the disease of Bible illiteracy. Where the way of God is not followed, morality is compromised, and it is passed on from generation to generation. "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you" (Jas.1:21). Someone much smarter than me said: "We will not believe more than we know, and we will not live higher than our beliefs." The disease is conquerable, and the antidote is available. Lets take it in large amounts... By the way, Psalm 119:89-112 would be good to read and meditate upon....

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
