Maintenance Of Spiritual Strength

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God so that you will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil" (Eph.6:10-11).

Back in the days when today's verses were written, armor was used in battle. If there was not the emanate danger of injury, the armor would not be needed. The metaphor being used here is not about physical wounds, but spiritual ones. The implication is that human effort is inadequate, but the power if God is invincible. I think that the apostle Paul explains this in 2 Cor.10:3-5... "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war the way the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." Paul is ready for warfare here, but not the conventional kind, and not with conventional weapons. His weapons are not the ones prized by this fallen world and fashioned by human pride. He is fighting to destroy the strongholds and every argument and pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God.... All of the faulty reasoning out there that will try to shake the faith of Christians. The human culture out there, led by Satan, would try to draw us from the Lord. That explains today's verses... It explains why we need the whole armor of God, so that we will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.... Because we live out there, it cannot be avoided, so it must be confronted. From what I gather about reading farther ahead about the armor, there is none on the back side of the soldier... God does not intend for us to move backward in our lives but forward. In coming to one another's aid, you have heard the term, "I've got your back..." Perhaps that is the armor we need there... For the next few days I'll look at the things that will weaken our lives, and thus necessitate the armor....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
