The Imagery That Comforts

"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city" (Rev.22:14).

The wonderful words that the apostle John heard from heaven and wrote down for us in the Book of Revelation are comforting. He lets us know that the condition of those that wash their robes (are in Christ) have a wonderful hope at their death... The intermediate state between death of the righteous and the eternal judgement is a place of bliss. Jesus made promises that clearly refer to the eternal state after the Judgement. These are about our right to the tree of life... (Rev.2:7) They are about not being hurt by the second death... (Rev.2:11) They are about our names not being blotted out of the Book of Life...(Rev.3:5) Yet there are those that also refer to the intermediate state, between death and the resurrection. Those say that we will reign over the nations with Christ... (Rev.2:26-27) They say that we are to walk with Him in white, clothed in white garments... (Rev.3:4-5) Jesus describes for us those blessings for the righteous dead prior to the eternal state.. I rejoice that my brother Steve is experiencing those blessings right now. But, if the righteous dead are in heaven now, what happens after the resurrection and Judgement? God and Jesus will dwell with them in the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven into a new heaven and new earth... (Rev.21:1-22) This was a promise that the apostle Peter and the early Christians looked forward to... "But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of the righteous" (2 Pet.3:13). Although I miss my brother-in-the Lord, I am assured that he is resting comfortably. It makes our loss bearable, and comforts us...

Have a wonderful day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
