Being Buzz Aldrin

"Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death" (2 Cor 7:10).

I am sure that all of you know that New Jersey native Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin. For those of you who need refreshing, Buzz Aldrin was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11. His chief claim to fame is that he was the second person to step foot on the moon. Many of the photographs we see of that historic 1969 mission are of him, because the first person to step on the moon was _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and he had the camera... Now I must satisfy my curiosity.. Who do you remember, Buzz or _ _ _ _? Most everyone remembers the first person to accomplish an historic deed, but the second is usually relegated to the back burner except for the trivia buffs of the world... In speaking about salvation, however, most everyone knows the steps required by biblical teaching for an alien sinner to be saved. I like to call it God's first law of pardon. A person must hear the gospel of Christ and then believe that Jesus is that Christ... He or she must then repent of their sins, confess their faith that Jesus is the Son of God, and be baptized for the remission of sins. Jesus said, in what we like to call the Great Commission: "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Matt.28:18-19). As we become the evangelists that Jesus intended for us to be, we spend a lot of time explaining that first law of pardon. In taking Jesus' words seriously, we want all to come to know Him and His power to save. What we are not as well versed on is what to do for a Christian who has strayed away from the Lord. For the want of a better term, we'll call this "God's Second Law of Pardon...." As Christians desiring to maintain our relationship with God, we should be equally concerned with that second law... More about this the next few days. After all, we should remember Buzz Aldrin the same way we recall _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
