God Responds

"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more" (Heb.8:12).

As an erring child of God looks for forgiveness and redemption, they will find their Lord just a prayer away. Today's verse is a quote from the prophet Jeremiah as God speaks about His covenant with Israel. He says: "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people..." (31:33). The covenant is the same one that He makes with us when we become Christians. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 Jn.1:9). God will be faithful to His promise about forgiveness, so we have the assurance of His response. The basis for that response is found in the cleansing blood of Jesus, so God can be the justifier of those who have faith in His Son... "and are justified freely by the grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ" (Rom.8:24). You might want to read and meditate upon Rom.8:22-26 today... Lastly, we have something else included in His second law of pardon. It is the blessedness found in God's response. The word forgive denotes the act of cancelling a debt along with the restoration of the debtor. The guilt of our sin will be no longer held against us as we "are cleansed from all unrighteousness.." Perhaps a great thing that might go unnoticed here is the word "all" In it we have the reassurance that no sin is beyond God's ability to forgive the penitent Christian who confesses... The wonder of our God is that He is just, and that He will forgive us and cleanse us... We have the blessedness and assurance of God's response...

Have a wonderful day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
