That Old Quality/Quantity Thing

"The seed that fell among the thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches, and pleasures, and they do not mature" (Lk.8:14)

There is that age old axiom about spending "quality time" with people we care about. I firmly believe that this is true, but there is an obvious problem here. How can we spend quality time with someone, without spending a quantity of time? Perhaps we ought to qualify that quality time this way... We must make sure that at least a part of the quantity of time we spend is of sufficient quality... Its really about getting our "Qs together. Today's verse is from Jesus' parable of the sower and the seed that is spoken of may represent this quantity/quality thing... We must be careful not to allow the seemingly urgent things to crowd out the really important ones... We certainly live in a hectic, fast paced time, but to put that into perspective, listen to the words of a song written in 1882... "Take time to be holy, the world rushes on..." Everyone from every era has thought they they are/were living in a hectic time. Any time that is crowded by distractions is a hectic one. If we become too busy for the activities that God has designed for us to get closer to Him, we have a dilemma. The jeopardy we might face is one of a spiritual nature. Simply it takes both a quality and quantity of time to grow spiritually. If there are things that are crowding your day to the extent that prayer, Bible reading, and meditation are put on the back burner, your spiritual life will stagnate... The seed of today's verse was choked out by stuff.. Now some of that stuff might seem urgent at the time, but what is the price in spirituality that is sacrificed? Lets take a closer look at this over the next few days, as we all attempt to get as close to God as possible....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
