Clock Management

"Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his money in wild living" (Lk.15:13).

In sports like football and basketball that are that are run by clocks, in a close game, time management can become very important. Each team is allotted a certain amount of timeouts, and certain aspects of the games call for the clock to be stopped. All must be used judiciously... If we are to grow spiritually, our time must be managed well. Maybe the two things in life that we must exercise good stewardship over is time and money. Today's verse is an excerpt from the Parable we know of as the Prodigal Son... It is a key part in which the younger son has taken his share of his father's money and traveled to a faraway country. Needless to say, he was not a very good money manager, and he wasted all the money foolishly. When a famine struck in that country, the young man was left penniless. In today's world, we may come to a dichotomy of thought over these matters. When it comes to spiritual things, there may be a certain type of person who is generous with his money, but stingy with his time. That person may have time to make, invest and spend money wisely, but not have the time to pray or meditate. As a matter of fact, certain people may be generous with their money to compensate for a lack of time spent in private devotion and meditation with the Lord... The Latin meaning for the word prodigal is "recklessly wasteful, extravagant." As frugal as some may be with their time for spiritual growth, they can be downright recklessly and wastefully extravagant in its use for anything else... We cannot be like the Prodigal Son and waste what has been given to us. We may have to find a way to reallocate our resources in the use of time, lest like a team near the end of a close game, we may run out of it...

Have a great day... Do good... Give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
