Heaven's Worth It

"I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all" (Eccl.9:11).

In writing today's verse, Solomon made an observation about the race that we call life. It is somewhat similar to Aesop's view about The Tortoise and the Hare.. It would seem that they both are of the opinion that life's race isn't always to the swift... To many, unfortunately, doing what is right may not always work or be effective by their standards of judgement. They just may not take the long-term approach of God's blessings, the rewards of righteousness... Lets get a bit of insight into this matter from a dialogue between Moses and God..."Moses returned to the Lord and said, 'O Lord, why have you bought trouble upon this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all" (Ex.5:22-23). Does it sound as if Moses is being accusatory toward God for His seeming indifference? You should read God's response in chapter six today. I think that many people today take that same short-sighted view.... "See Lord! I tried it your way and it didn't work, just as I expected! Trying to do the right thing got me nothing but trouble, and my problems are just as bad or even worse than before!" I hope that this does not sound eerily familiar to any of us... We must have the patience to see the story through until the end. When we read a novel, as enjoyable or disappointing that it may be, it will make no sense without reading the ending... People should never draw premature conclusions about whether it pays to serve God. The main emphasis must be on the end of the story as we understand that heaven is worth everything that may happen to us in the short-term... Heaven is worth it...

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
