Getting Good Reception

"He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit...." (Titus 3:5).

I will assume that many of you are old enough to remember the days before cable or satellite TV. We all had an antenna on the roof which received the signal. Maybe you even had those "rabbit ears" on the top of the TV. I can remember going out on the roof to adjust the antenna when reception got bad. It was quite a chore considering that we only got three stations... If you're not that old, you can more than likely recall bad reception on the early cells phones. In my last of this short series about grace, I would like to focus in on receiving it... You Know... Good reception... When we get that new TV these days, if we adhere to all the instructions in setting it up, the reception should be crystal clear. Our reception of God's grace through Jesus Christ is just that simple and easy. To receive God's saving grace, we must obey His instructions into salvation... Here's the kicker though... As we read today's verse, it would seem that such obedience really has nothing to do with the earning or meriting of salvation. If that is your conclusion, you get an "A" this morning. Our salvation is by grace, and "not because of righteous things we have done..." What happens is that by God's mercy, "He saves us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit..." When we are united with Christ, we walk in a newness of life and are clothed with Christ, able to enjoy all the blessings made possible by Jesus' death and resurrected life. There's no tweaking the antenna or "can you hear me now....." We are to simply take that new life into one of dedicated service to the Lord... Now That's great reception...

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
