Don't Fail The Mission

"His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known...." (Eph.3:10).

I wrote yesterday about the proclamation. The apostle Paul viewed that his mission on earth was to bring light to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It would seem from today's verse, that this is to be our mission also, that in word and actions we are to witness for the Lord. I find it interesting that church buildings out in wilderness places were called "missions" years ago. That name clearly lets us know what their intent was... One of the ways to make sure that our mission succeeds is to look at some of the ways it can fail and avoid the pratfalls. I would see one of the obvious ways to fail is to lose sight of the purpose through a misplaced emphasis. If we get caught up in the physical aspects of the church's work rather than the spiritual... In the Book of Revelation, Jesus takes a look at the church at Laodicea. He utters those famous words: "So, because you are lukewarm --- neither hot nor cold --- I am about to spit you out of my mouth" (3:15). We have but to read on to find out their problem. If you do a bit of research, you'll find that Laodicea was a very rich city, known for its banking establishments, medical school, and textile industry. They had placed more trust in the material things of the world than in the important spiritual matters in front of them. Its not that physical needs shouldn't be met, but at the forefront must always be the mission.. Our job.... The job of the church is to get the message out. Rather than being like the church at Laodicea, we would be better off materially poor and spiritually rich... It will be our spirituality that carries us to heaven, and not those material things... We don't want to fail the mission...

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
