Getting In The Wheelbarrow

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" (2 Cor,4:18).

I have heard many people throw the word faith around just like the word love... "I love that movie... car.... flavor of ice cream..." "I have faith in Bill... my car... my friends..." In the eleventh chapter of the Book of Hebrews, we find the most comprehensive definition of faith that I can think of. "Now faith> is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" (V 1). This tells us that faith is a mental quality in which we deal with things that indeed are not seen...Just like love, faith is not seen as we find in today's verse, but a thing is not unreal just because it is not seen... In the Old Testament, there is perhaps no character that leaped out in faith to a greater degree than Noah. People like to have this tendency, faulty as it may be, that they must cling to what is happening today simply because it has always happened and will continue to happen. Noah was told of a future reality and that it would have a practical impact on his life, so he built the ark and saved his family. I am reminded of the famous 19th century acrobat Jean Francois Blondin, who made a living doing unusual feats. In 1859, he had a tightrope stretched across Niagara Falls and traversed it in several ways, including carrying his manager on his back. The feat drew huge crowds. Urban legend says that he asked the crowd whether they thought he could go across pushing a wheelbarrow. Their faith was great and the crowd shouted that he could and raised their hands in affirmation. He then asked if any of them would get into the wheelbarrow. There was not one shout or one raised hand! Saving faith calls for decisive action in the present and is not merely something we think about, but something we act upon. I guess we have to be willing to get in the wheelbarrow...

Have a wonderful day.... Do good and give God the glory... Love mark Phil.4:11
