Who Wants a Free Lunch?

"Come, all of you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live..." (Isa.55:1-3).

Have you ever passed up on a free lunch? Perhaps it wasn't very good... What about a good quality meal that was satisfying? It would be harder to pass up on that one... Good or bad free meal not withstanding, God has one that we should not pass up. Today's passage from the Book of Isaiah describes how God's food is free to all who will have it. Of course, real food is not the issue here; His "food" here represents the saving work of Jesus. If we read the Old Testament very much, especially those Messianic references, we are reminded that Jesus referred to Himself as living water... The bread and wine remind us Jesus' body and blood as part of the Communion Meal. Today's verses encourage everyone to take advantage of this free meal... This free blessing... We can sometimes get lost in the poetic language of prophets like Isaiah, but today's verses speak loud and clear. What God has to offer here is so much better than anything the world offers. It is better because it is much more lasting and substantial... "Why spend money on what is not bread, and you labor on what does not satisfy?" God's meal is much more satisfying! And best of all, it is offered to us at the low, low, price of..... Nothing! We are simply to take Jesus into our lives as our Savior and obey Him into salvation. My mom would have said, "what a bargain..." Now, who can pass up a good free meal like that....

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
