Growth Toward God

"Seeing that His divine power has granted us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature..." (2 Pet.1:3-4).

When we want to get better at golf, fishing, or doing crossword puzzles, the way that works the best is practice. I always found out in coaching that there was no substitute for improvement than good positive repetition. It helps us to grow in a particular skill. I always hit the baseball better when I got a lot of good batting practice swings... The goal is to always get better. In our spiritual lives, heaven is our goal. We must always understand, however, that it is not an arbitrary reward that we achieve by accident. It is a logical end to a constant growth process.... Growth toward God! I believe that heaven will be filled with people who have dedicated their lives to growing toward the Lord, and allowed Him to mold their characters. Today's verses let us know that He desires to share that character with us. We easily see our skills at certain things erode through a lack of practice and repetition, and we can't expect to please God if we don't grow toward Him. Jesus said; "Anyone who is not with Me is against Me." (Lk.11:23) Each decision, choice, or deed, either brings us closer to God or farther from Him. We can't expect to live our entire lives growing our characters away from God and then wake up in heaven to find out we have grown toward Him... It just doesn't work that way... Heaven awaits those who want God...

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
