The Heaven Choice

"The kingdom of our God is here, heaven is in my heart;
The presence of His majesty, heaven is in my heart.
And in His presence joy abounds, heaven is in my heart;
The light of holiness surrounds, heaven is in my heart
."

Graham Kendrick 1991

Lets start out with a blunt statement... Heaven is for those who opt to go there. It is a conscious choice. Sadly, not everyone will make the choice to go to heaven. Our hymn books at church are filled with wonderful songs about heaven. Some were written in the 1800s and their language is delightful and encouraging... But to say a person is actually heaven bound is only true if it is true... Jesus' teaching in the beatitudes sums a lot of it up. He talks about the blessed ones who hunger and thirst for righteousness and the pure in heart that will see God... If heaven is actually to be our home, it is up to us to show decisiveness about it. There must be a longing passion about heaven on our part that cannot be denied. The apostle Paul was so passionate about this that he wrote: "No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize" (1 Cor.9:27). Our bodies might do the sinning, but our minds do the telling so the writer of the Book of Hebrews says this: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (12:1-2). Have you ever been driving along in your car and missed your exit because you got distracted? We must learn to keep our minds on where we are going... We can't allow discouragements or hardships to deter us from our destiny. Having heaven as our goal is the single most empowering thing we can experience...

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
