In Love And Hope

"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparable great power for us who believe" (Eph.1:18-19).

As we finish up on this little mini-series about being people of encouragement, there are two more parts of life in which we can lift one another up. Maybe one of the most prized possessions we have in life is a hope in the Lord and His great promises. When we take Jesus into our lives, this great hope of living eternally with Him ought to be unquenchable. Unfortunately, folks get sidetracked from time to time and that hope dims... As people of encouragement, that's where we come in. If our hope is as strong as it ought to be, the table is set for lifting others up about theirs. We can provide a wonderful service in the lives of those around us by building others up about the ultimate hope of spending eternity with the Lord. It should always be stressed, and never be quenched. I think I have saved the best for last... It might be good for us to read 1 John 4:7-21 and meditate upon it. Its about God's love and ours. "If anyone says, 'I love God,' yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen" (1 Jn.4:20). The need to love be loved is deep and strong. As the preceding verse says, we can't possibly love God without loving the rest of His children. We can be sons of encouragement by reminding others about the great love of God, and our duty to love also. Words to others that express that love can have a positive effect that is immeasurable. I hope that the last three devotionals have given us all a bit to think about in using our words and deeds for encouraging one another. Maybe you have thought of some ways that I did not... They are all good...

Have a great day... Do good and Give the Lord the credit... Love mark phil.4:11
