The REAL King

"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in which we have redemption, the forgiveness of sin" (Col.1:17).

As members of the Lord's church, we have many privileges. One of the greatest of those is that we find ourselves in the kingdom of Jesus Christ, just as the Colossians found themselves in today's verses. Since the church is referred to as God's kingdom here on earth, it suggests that there must be a King... In true kingdoms that are ruled by a monarch, the subjects of that kingdom are to have an unwavering allegiance to the king. It is unfortunate that many treat the kingdom of the Lord (His church) like one might treat the monarchy of England, in which the monarchs are only figureheads and wield no real authority and the true decision-making power rest with the parliament. In Christ's kingdom here on earth we must make absolutely no mistake! Jesus is the King in reality, and we are are the citizens. As citizens, we are subjects to Christ the King! "And whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father through him" (Col.3:17). Why you ask? Its pretty simple, isn't it... He's the King... In His Kingdom, things are done as He directs them to be done... He's the King! He has the authority! "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority on heaven and on earth has been given to me" (Matt.28:18). In His Kingdom, His laws are those that are to be followed. We don't get to make up our own set of rules to live by because Jesus has already established them. We have to follow them for the most obvious of reasons.... He's the REAL KING...

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
