Beautiful

"You've got to get up every morning, with a smile on your face and show the world, all the love in your heart... Then people gonna treat you better you're gonna find, yes, you will, that you're beautiful as you feel"

From the song "Beautiful" by Carole King 1971

It is interesting to read about the inspiration that songwriters or poets get as to why they deal with the topics they do. Carole King claims to have gotten her inspiration for "Beautiful" while riding in the subway in New York City. Her realization was that the way she perceived others reflected how she herself felt. I don't know if I can wax as poetic as she did, but I really like her rationale... I casually listen to people complaining about everything from taxes, politics, religion, to their favorite team or sitcom. Sometimes it takes on its own form of sarcasm about things that cannot be changed. I then let the words from this song run through my mind and wonder why people just don't decide to be more beautiful. "I have always asked myself the reason for sadness in a world where tears are just a lullaby... If there's any answer, maybe love can end the madness maybe not, oh, but we can only try..." As a Christian, I have a lot more reasons to be happy than sad. I have a lot more reasons to be extolling the blessings of life than to complain about the speed bumps... Maybe a part of the answer to living in a more upbeat world actually starts with me... Maybe I've got to get up every morning with a smile on my face, look to the Lord and ask Him what He's got planned for me today... "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psa.118:24). Maybe Carole had a handle on it... "Then people gonna treat you better you're gonna find, yes, you will, that you're beautiful as you feel..." Maybe its just time to feel and be more beautiful...

Have a great day. Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
