The Sign Of Love

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (Jn.13:34-35).

After the Lord tells us to be unified, He leaves us with another important sign along our way that points us in the right direction. It is the sign of love. How many times have you heard a preacher use Jn.13:34-35 in a sermon? I know that I have used it numerous times and it never loses its effectiveness. The verses conveys to us the value of love for one another in that it shows that we have been loved by Christ, whose love we seek. In addition, it lets everyone around us know that we are His disciples... The sign is such a powerful one because it radiates out to the whole world as it shows that Christ has loved His disciples and those that emulate His love are His true disciples..."My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lays down his life for his friends" (Jn.15:12-13). The apostle Paul encouraged the Thessalonian church, that was a loving one in itself, to actually increase in love. (1 Thess.4:9-10) He told the church in Colosse this: "And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in all unity" (3:14). By our love for one another, we are much more likely to preserve the unity we are to have in Christ... Unity and love, therefore, walk hand in hand as they let folks know that God loves them and shows them just who the followers of Christ are... It is good to start our week with thoughts of love and unity on our minds...

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
