The Sign of Doing Good Stuff

"This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone" (Titus 3:8).

Another signpost that the Lord puts out there for us is the one that tells us how and why it is important to do good works. The value in our doing good stuff for others is taught by Jesus when He speaks about us in this way: "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matt.5:16). When we do good things in the name of the Lord, we are glorifying Him the way we are supposed to... As people observe our good deeds, the door to witnessing for Him is opened wide. We live in a skeptical world and people will naturally attempt to understand where our motivation to do good comes from... We can attest that what spurs us on to do good stuff is a part of the gospel message of Christ. In today's verse, the apostle Paul says that doing good always puts us in a win/win situation. Others win when we do good for them and the Lord is glorified as the motivator... This led Paul to command that we should "be obedient and to be ready to do whatever is good..." (Titus 3:1). There are pressing needs out there in the world and who better to meet them than us? Paul even gives us the reason in today's verse and a bit farther on.... "Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives" (V 14). God put all those divine signs out there for us to obey that we may lead a good life of hope, unity, love and service.... Lets obey the signs....

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
