Using Our Gifts To Serve

"Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work" (1 Tim.2:20-21).

In the world of sports, whether team or individual, people compete against one another as they try to win. The competition should be healthy and robust as people use their own special skill set to aid himself or the team. When we enter the arena of service to the Lord, we all have our special abilities and should not feel the necessity to compete with others who work for the Lord also. We ought to work and pray to serve in the area where we will do our best and have our greatest influence. Just as today's verses conclude, "useful to the Master, prepared for every good work..." The apostle Paul puts it another way: "Since we have gifts that differ in according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly; if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or if he teaches, in his teaching; or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness" (Rom.12:6-8). We are to do our best in serving God in whatever area we are gifted, even if it overlaps with someone else, and never be jealous of those who are outstanding in a particular area of service. God is the master builder, and he uses His tools (us) appropriately, according to their quality and nature. As people of influence, we are to be the kind of tools that the Lord can use in different ways to carry out His purposes... Our job is to develop those skills to the best of our ability so that we will be effective in God's hands. Without placing unrealistic demands on ourselves, we are to strive the make the very best of those abilities so that we can use our gifts to serve....

Have a great day... Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
