Influencing Through Exemplary Living

"Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please Himself but, it is written:'The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me'" (Rom.15:2-3).

God actually expects us to be more concerned with others than we are with ourselves and says in several places that an excessive love for ourselves or an unhealthy interest in self is contrary to His will... "Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus walked" (1 Jn.2:6). It would seem that the mantra of the world is to "look out for old # 1," with number one being our self... Biblical teaching is completely diametrical to this, and I'm going to do something a bit differently in my devotional today... I am going to give you a list of scriptures that teach just this. Try to make some time during the day, and look these up. It would even be good if you meditated upon one or more them.... Here goes: Eph.5:21, Eph, 4:32, Gal.5:13, 1 Cor.12:25, Rom.12:1 & 16, Jn.13:34, Heb.10:24-25, Phil.2:3-4, 1 Pet.5:5, Col.3:13 & 16, 1 Thess.5:11, Jas,5:16, 1 Pet.1:22, 1 Pet.4:9... I compiled this list to remind us all that if we treat each other according to it, perhaps the people in our lives would look to us for encouragement and guidance... This list might not be complete, but these qualities should make us more compassionate, loving, helpful, concerned, respectful, and empathetic people. They will help us to eliminate those negatives in our relationships with other people that would hinder our influence for good.... Our examples can have a dramatic impact on the lives of others around us the way Jesus desires, if we make others our priority...

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
